DESIGN 7 : ASSIGNMENTS IN THE FINAL TWO WEEKS


> COMP. PRACTICE 2 - TUESDAY NOV. 23 (20 %)
At least ten JPGS for Computer Practice 2 Class (20 % of final grade of that class).

Place the JPGS in a in the DESIGN 7 class folder called PREFINAL. Name your images by your last name followed by a number (example camps01, camps02, camps03…note use 01, 02…09, 10, 11, 12, numbering system)


> DESIGN 7 - WEDNESDAY, PRE-FINAL, NOV. 24 (20 %)

VÍDEO CONFERENCE WITH CHILE, ROOM 141 LIBRARY BUILDING: 2.00 - 4.30

The same 10 JPGS described above, plus floor plans and elevations. You must demonstrate that your model

is finished. For the Week of Nov. 24 until Dec. you should work exclusively on presentation. The 20 % grade will reflect of the advance you have done since midterm in your design (at least 100 hours of work). The grade will be also based on the grades of previous weeks. Please note that 30 % of this grade will be given in Chile based on your work published in the web.

NOTE ALL YOUR WORK SHOULD BE LOADED BY 2 PM IN THE INSTRUCTOR COMPUTER IN VH 240. WE WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET. PREPARE FOR A 5 MIN. PRESENTATION.


> DESIGN 7 - THURSDAY, DEC. 2 FINAL (45%): VH 131

The student should demonstrate in the final design review that he or she is able to carry a complex design project and propose a solution at the schematic design level.

1. MODEL
One Schematic model 3/32" : 1’
Or a very detailed computer model with textures and light. (you can use the midterm schematic model)
 

2. BOOKLET

      Three copies of a booklet the contain the following information about your project:

      a. At least two Printed Elevations (min.)

      b. At least two Printed Sections: Sections (min.)

      c. One section or perspective section showing your structural idea (min)

      d. All floor plans

      e. More than 8 printed Perspectives (min)

      f. One page of program and clear drawings showing program distribution

      g. Short text explaining your project, be concise, summarize, and mix text pages with image pages. Many times is better to say things in a way that are left open. Narration with voids can construct meaning in a more effective way than long texts. Remember the objective of the booklet is for jurors to have a reference of your work.

      3. DIGITAL PRESENTATION

      The objective of the digital presentation is to show your project in approximately 10 minutes. You will not be allowed to speak, therefore prepare accordingly. You have to introduce the location of your pier, the part of the world you are designing, your concepts, design, architectural effects, program and structural concept. Use panoramics, animations, audio or any other techniques that helps you involve the audience in understanding not only the architectural form but the atmosphere of your project. When you use panoramics please let the audience know where you are located in floor plan.

      All the material requested for the booklet is required to be present in the digital presentation.

      4. WEB PUBLISHING

Publish by the exam day a final presentation on the web. Publish in the December 2nd week of your page a link called "final presentation." Later we will link the "project.html" to you final page. Please do a coherent presentation similar to the one you presented on Final. Please note that 30 % of your grade will depend on what you publish on the web.
